More about the artwork
Blind Love and Grace. 2016
Blind Love and Grace was part of the Primavera exhibition at the October Gallery in 2016. The sculpture is a reinterpretation of Botticelli’s painting. A female Kalabari figure is standing. She is dressed in the typical way, but yet, she looks like a gentle sorceress. Her hand is up as she is blessing the viewer. On both sides of the stage, there are banana trees. All in this sculpture suggests grace and peace. The sorceress is not alone, just above her a cherub is pointing his arrow. From the oil barrel, flowers are blossoming, light enters, and the rebirth of nature is just under our eyes.
